How about a wedding announcement section?
I have one to start it off - mine!
Shaun Freeman (English) and Åsa Magnevall (Swedish) are to be married on the 2nd of September, at St. Alban's English Church in Copenhagen, Denmark.
P.S. I think it would be *really* useful to have a online spell checker for all postings.
P.P.S. I would like to help contribute to the post on a regular basis, but I am not sure what sort of information you are looking for. I thought one thing I could do is write a weekly news summary from Copenhagen??

Congratulations! I visited your pages obviously and read all about you and your beautiful girl!
A newsy column from Copenhagen sounds a great idea!
I agree about the spell-checker! I have wondows 98 in Dutch on this computer which makes it quite hard to use any spell-checker! I have enough problems trying to understand what the comp is saying to me at the best of times! LOL If I have it turned on it highlights just about every single word I type!
I am hoping to introduce a births, marriages, deaths column... so don't be surprised to see your name in lights!

Thank you and she is beautiful
If I am going to write this weekly column, how should I get it to you?
Dutch? Why so? My home PC is in Danish, which is nice.
I had another idea (which you may of had anyway) - that is if you create 'what is in the news this week' section. You could then create headlines form that weeks news and get people to comment on?

Well... I am English but the version of Windows was donated by my Dutch b/f as I now live in Holland with him I am trying to learn the language, but some (most!) of the technical words aren't in the dictionary! LOL
The *what's in the news* idea we have tried before, but as an updated version. We just need to find someone willing to scour the world's press every week... not an easy thing to do! We do quite often get articles through from people like Loony (NZ) and Gargleblaster (US) etc... but only on a casual basis! We are thinking very seriously about this aspect of the POST though

I don't know if you have seen it, but the Guardian publish a International paper called the Guardian Weekly?
I get this at the moment and it has very good world coverage, it is published in conjunction with Le Monde (French) and Washington Post (US). Therefore you get very good world news.
I would be happy to supply headlines from this paper on a weekly basis, if this would be of interest?
What is the best way to get regular information to the Post?

You have two choices really... it depends if you are willing to do the whole article and put in the GuideML coding...!!
If so, I can give you the access code to the POST pages and you can just put the article straight in there... I will be a pain and just check it through for s/p's syntax errors etc... but, otherwise, you can be responsible for the whole thing
If you would be interested in doing this, email me and I will go through to make sure you know which GuideML tags we use... some are a little different to the ones used in the general h2g2 articles
For obvious reasons I also don't want to put the access codes on a general forum LOL
My email is:

Thanx again for your offer of help

errr ... well so far I have not written anything in GuideML/HTML and the thought of writing code (as I am a PC/system admin/non programming background), does bring me out in a rash!
Also I am very not sure how much time I can spend on this yet or to be more precise, how much time it will take up.
I will email you now.

Hi, I've been looking for a place to do this, and haven't been able to find anything official looking.
So, I'll just tag onto the end of this thread
Abi left a message in the ACEs newsletter that you were recruiting new writers. I would be incredibly, hugely, eternally grateful if you'd let me write something for you. I'll write about anything I can- future ambitions to be a journalist you see, and this is yet another bit of work experience h2g2 can give me (along with ACEing, my Archangel position, and hopefully subbing soon).
Problem is, what with huge commitments already to h2g2, plus my school work and a job, I'm not sure I'd be able to do anything for you on a weekly basis, though I'll try my hardest if you so wish it.
Ok, that's my little speech over- hope you'll give me a try out.

Hi there
Thank you so much for your offer of help!
If you could please email me with any ideas you may have, I would be happy to give you a monthly column to do with as you wish. I am currently working on a list of all regular contributors and what they are intending to write about... so a few clues as to your interests would be helpful
There seems to be a distinct lack of articles on nature/the environment atm! Do you have any interest in maybe tackling that?
My email, if you missed it earlier, is:

Unfortunately I'm reality-challenged.
I know next to nothing about environmental issues (apart from what I learned in biology, and I'm currently in the process of trying to forget all of it ).
The entertainment field is more my area- I see you have a film reviewer so that's out the window but...
Well, I'll email you, see what I can come up with.
