Hi Shazz,
I just called for a chat.I must say that the more time that i spend in this place and more importantly the more people i meet the more certain i am that i will be here for a while to come, hopefully contributing far more substantially than i am at present. In the meantime, during the course of this weekend i shall spend more time reading articles instead of chatting all the time in an effort to get a better understanding of the sort of material that you are looking for.Mind you,i probably won't be able to resist chatting as well being the chirpy chappie that i am.
Love

Hi Noname
That is good news indeed I am pleased to hear that you are enjoying h2g2... and, as I have said before, tkae your time and just send me through your articles/ideas when you are ready
Sorry about all the bouncing emails!! They are getting through!! Hopefully TM will sort out my new internet account soon! I must say that I am missing my own computer, even though this one is much better... BUT it has no spell checker and is mostly in Dutch LOL

Hi there vegiman and hello again shazz. It seems that your life at present is a bit hectic to say the least. Are you dutch?or have you just moved there?.....whatever,i hope it all calms down soon enough for you.
So tell me shazz,is the POST something that only appears on your page?how would i submit something to you for it?what is the differance between submitting something for the Post or as a guide entry.
i guess i am also curious,birds of a feather...hey?
oh no not the birds again!!

Hi Noname I am English and have recently moved to Holland... infact I have written an article for the post about the 1st stage of my move!
OK... the Post is an online newspaper which is run entirely by volunteers. Pastey is the Webthing... responsible for actually putting it online, and I am the managing editor... so I get the final say in what articles we run I do sometimes have to consult with the Towers when an article comes in that may be controversial, but apart from that we are totally independant from the Towers
So, when you submit an article to us, we look through it, edit it where apropriate and say thank you very much We are always in need of items obviously
I spend quite a lot of time bugging people who seem to be literate... or just have something interesting to say.
The main difference is that when you submit to the guide your article will be edited by the subeds and then the Towers Team. This can take a long time... they are getting faster but the wait is still about 20
weeks! You DO have the honour of a mention on your page that you have contributed to the Guide, and admiration from your fellow researchers, so it is well worth the effort
To submit an article to the Post there are links on the Post page... or you can email it straight to me!

Thanks for the answers shazz,i will definately try and come up with something interesting to say sometime in the future.I am afraid that i don't think i will fit into the literate section...lol.how often do you change the pages of the post or is it as and when?
I hope your stay in Holland is a pleasant one,are you in the Hague?I also lived in in various parts of holland for the best part of two years,i thoroughly enjoyed it.

My stay here is (hopefully) permanent as I have moved here to be with Towelmaster... yes you can find romance on the net! We live in Alphen A/D Rijn, which is bang in the middle I think
A new edition of the Post is published late every Sunday night/Monday morning... so I am just editing the final copies for the run later this evening If you have a few hours to spare why not have a browse through some of the back issues... if nothing else it is worth it just for the Wowbagger cartoons

Cool beans ...may your days be filled with love, laughter and happiness.Alphen rings a bell with me,thats not the place where there is a miniature town is it?
Tell me shazz, can i post an entry to the Post as well as the normal guide entry route?,or do i have to type it twice?or is that not on at all?
i read through the current post yesterday, but i will read more.I enjoyed the interview that Monsy did,i like her style.
I really must get down to a bit more reading in here instead of messing around in so many chats...lol

You may submit an article to us which is exactly the same as for the Guide Loony does it all the time
The good thing is that, as we keep all the editions as Back Articles, you are guaranteed a permanent piece of h2g2 even if your article doesn't get approved by the guide
I will have to ask TM about the miniature village! I haven't seen that much of Alphen yet! With no car and no bicycle I am not straying too far from the house just yet

I see,well how would i transfer it?...
Just to crack the ice i submitted an entry today, deliberately uncreative and maybe a little boring but some, who like me,are intrigued by puzzles may enjoy it as it gives the answer to one.I will get round to writing more interesting stuff about some of my travels but thats the area where the uncertainty begins as i have never written anything before.

hi again Noname
As you might have seen from some of the other Post-related forum messages, Pastey is in the process of revamping how you may submit articles This should make it clearer and much simpler for anyone to submit an article
In the meantime... if you would like me to consider the entry which you submitted to the guide for the Post, just give me the nod and I will pop over and *lift* it from your page That is probably the easiest way, just now, for me to obtain it!! That is exactly the method I used for the John-the-Gardener article
Copy and paste is such a handy tool LOL
As I said before, I am more then happy for you to just give it a go... I enjoy the editing process and will consult with you if or where I feel that improvments need to be made At the end of the day, it is YOUR article... I just try to assist with the spelling, grammer and syntax
Thanx for continued interest

To be honest shazz,i sincerely doubt whether the first article i wrote will be of any interest to you.I wrote it simply to crack the ice and write SOMETHING!! anything...lol.I am working on one or two other things though which may prove a little more appropiate. What i really want to do is write about my own observations and experienceces throughout my life....thats where the nervousness comes in...I mean who the heck cares what i think. So i am going to write about any old thing for a while just to try and build up some confidence. In the meantime you may feel free to uplift anything from my site and critique me in any way you see fit.If you have the inclination ...please consider me a student.
Thank you for your interest

Hehehehe I know what you mean about being nervous! I too doubted whether anyone would be interested in what I have to say. Surprisingly, though, people all over the world are curious! They enjoy a peep into the lives of other earth-dwellers, especially in such a friendly site as h2g2
As I said before, just ease yourself in gently and give me a shout when you feel ready

I do indeed have a question for you! I keep getting attacked by some biting insect... I suspect a form of mosquito! They are really driving me insane atm, and they develop into nasty sore spots. The final insult is that one has targetted my eyelid, so I look like Quasimodo!! Do you know any preparatory cream that will combat them... or should I go to a doctor? (Not that I actually have one atm )

Mossies are one of the few things that i go to great pains to avoid, having had malaria a couple of times,of which the last time was cerebral malaria....put me in hospital for a couple of weeks.
I don't suppose that there is any risk of that over there but even so ...who needs them.when i go to the bush i spend a small fortune on sprays and coils. However, the one thing that i would reccomend to you is citronella, they hate the smell of lemons.I also use a fine water spray filled with water and a tenth of dettol, this is great too and also good for cooling you down, unfortunately it is probably a bit too smelly for where you are, being in the bush with animals for company it doesn't really matter of course....lol..
Try the citronella oils, dab some on your neck and wrists and try burning some mixed in water in an oil burner.
Love Noname
PS for the bites that you already have i would get some anti itch cream for them
