I haven't got a cat in hell's chance of finding this song, but I'll have a go
The Groob Posted Nov 25, 2015
Yup! That's the one coelacanth! Can't believe I've found it. About 30 years since I first heard it!
It would seem that the "dub mix" is the mix I remember:

Was quite surprised to find it is "acid house". I'd wondered if it was a jingle used by a radio station, thus finding it might be next to impossible. The acid house thing was lost on me at the time, but in my efforts to find "mystery song" I've uncovered some interesting acid house tunes. Oh well. Maybe I'm 30 years behind everyone else? I hope I don't like today's music in 30 years' time though

I'm not sure I can hear the "oooh weees!" in that, but it's certainly the one on the pottery show.

Interesting twist: All that sampling and remixing malarkey complicates matters! It looks like the track named above actually samples an earlier track called "This Brutal House" (also by Nitro Deluxe). That is probably the one I remember.

Interesting suggestion Coelacanth, but it sounds about 50 years later than my mystery disc.
This is the closest I can get:

...it's got the right sort of 'silliness', and if it's not this singer then it's someone who sounds identical; but the song I'm thinking of is better-known (I think).
It's not Girl from Ipanema, before anyone asks.

Which one? If Ana Tijoux, then the translation is worth looking at. It's the story of her life, since she was born in 1977.

This is an hour of bossa nova classics, including The Girl..., so maybe it's one of these? Even if not, it looks like a good list to have on in the background.

This reminds me of a song I associate with a shopping spree in NYC in the film _Joe vs the Volcano_.
Mas Que Nada by Sergio Mendes + Brazil 66.

In which case, might the track quotes is looking for be Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66, One Note Samba? It has the stacatto delivery.

It's not One Note Samba, but it certainly shares some of that style...now to investigate a bit more by Sergio Mendes.

Great Pottery Throw Down threw up another interesting song yesterday. This time it's a song I've never heard before. Lyrics searches have produced nothing. Sounds a bit like the kind of sound Tony Burrows has been involved with in the past. Only lyric I could hear clearly over the babbling of the host is "Turn it round...turn it round".
The song's at 22.18.

Ah! C'est fantastique! How did you find it, may I ask?
Quite a nice tune. Don't know why, but I'm remembering the lift of a department store in the 70s
