Ivan was terrible

My part of the world received anywhere from 6-8 inches of rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ivan, causing major flooding and mudslides closing several roads in the area.
The rain started Friday, 17 September, and by 1am Saturday the creek at the bottom of the hill was out of its banks and over the road.
The flooding was so bad that schools were closed on Monday, 20 September, due to numerous road closures and power outages. At my office we were required to boil water before drinking it for the whole week.
At the X household, we had a few inches of water in the basement and some things on the floor were wet, but no major damage.

Amazing the difference just a few miles makes - we didn't have any flooding in the basement at all, and schools in this area were open as usual.

The expected it to hit us when it looped back around, but the rain just missed us. Sorry that you got hit.

Well Karl was nice passing between Scotland and Iceland mainly just giving us some high windspeeds at the weekend.

The remnants of Jeanne are passing through here as I write this...
Lots of rain again. We'll see if we get any more flooding. After Ivan, we had a week of straight sunshine that should have dried things out enough that flooding shouldn't be a bother. But you never know.

We're still under a flood watch until 4pm, but the last forecast I saw was for only about 2 inches of rain altogether. They've been known to be wrong before though.
