But you're still here though Prof. Your eyes aren't confusing!!

It's sometimes quite surprising what keeps researchers away from hootoo.

In my case, the long absence was due to things (mainly good things) happening in our family. I had a lot to do, also, when my mother developed dementia and I had to take the power of attorney and sell her property. She was in hospital for 5 years after that. People just become side-tracked and otherwise engaged. I'll still probably not do a great deal on hootoo myself, but I'll certainly come on at least once a week to see what's brewing, and to save being left out in the cold when things start to develop in terms of the sale of the site.

Perhaps I've mislead you a little into trying to remember me; sorry for that!

When I was on h2g2 regularly, about 5 years ago, I spent the bulk of my time on the Underguide after being made a Miner, even though I would have really preferred to have written more for the Edited Guide; but I seem to remember you being around, and your title seemed to be familiar. But this makes no matter, as I like to make myself known to other researchers whenever I can, just to be sociable with fellow enthusiasts on the site.

My former 'skin' was 'frontiersman'. If you search for my somewhat gloomy contribution in the Edited Guide: 'Living with a Gastrectomy: One Researcher's Experience' in either the old style h2g2 format, or the new one, you will see that I was author, and Dorian Gray was Editor. In transferring the piece to the new format the BBC Editors have me down as both writer and editor; but that is OK by me.
