actually a nice place if you can ignore the glitz

I think it's a pretty nice place..to visit...been there often...
The glitz part is an eyesore..tacky like many tourist towns..but ignore it...stroll along by the Falls...let the mist spray over you..
listen to the rush of the waters...watch the Maid of the Mist... just enjoy the natural wonder that it is.. forget the commercializtion that is all around.. take your own pictures for memories..( if you likely won't be back anytime soon) enjoy it as you would any natural wonder of the world.. somehow seeing with your own eyes.. is so differnt thatn just looking at pictures... since the Falls are so close..I take them for granted I suppose..but visiting a place like Lake Louise...well..live it's exactly like the pictures..but so much more awesome...

I'm guessing that you live in or close to the Falls. I'm actually from St. Catharines, so I've spent quite a bit of time there. I live in Edmonton now, so I'm going to miss New Years and the the Festival of Lights. But you are right, there are two parts to the Falls. But I really don't mind Clifton Hill.
yes live fairly close

don't live quite s close as St. Kitts..but close enough. Always meant to see the Festival of Lights just never made it to the Falls for it.
But living in Edmonton now..you get to experiece a whole different set of local festivities..and see different sirtes. Never stayed over in Edmonton..just passed thru..but have stayed In Calgary..was there for the Stampede this year. I found it to be so different from similar festivities in Ontario. The people are the main difference... Albertans really seem to enjoy things..make a party oput of it. Sure Edmonton with it's Klondike Days..and whatever else they have iseverybit as much fun. I know it's easy to miss home..and what was here..but think you are lucky to have the chance to get to know a different part of the country..living in a place is not the same as visiting..think you can really get a feel for the place..and of course you are likely to find out about the local treasures..small places or events that tourists miss.. Hope you are enjoying your stay in Edmonton..wish I could have the chance tosee more of Canada by living there..
yes live fairly close

I'm actually visiting home for 3 weeks. I'm very excited to be going. I'm flying out there next week. I miss all of my friends and family, so it will be nice to spend a bit of time with them. Where are you from? My fiance is from Dunnville, and I have family in Hamilton. You wouldn't happen to know who's playing on New Year's yet, do you?
