Woohoo! We're off to The Gambia in an hour or so. I'll let you all know how the job application went as soon as I know, but that aside I'll see you in a fortnight.

Drink? Don't mind if I do!
Fingers crossed for interview results, and I'll be looking forward to every little detail from the Gambia
(For info, Dai is planning a motorbike trip from Scotland to Gambia next year, and I'm thinking about flying out to meet them on their arrival)

You are soooooooo lucky you are going there and for two weeks too. I only get to have about one week at a time.

They must need their heads testing. Still at least you knew quickly, so put it behind you and have a good holiday.

He may still have a chance to get this one... Remember after his interview, Rich said, "Maybe the next guy in will be Ray Mears"?
Well, just maybe it wasn't. Maybe it WAS Bear Grylls.
Maybe the next guy had great credentials, but when he gets out in the wilds he becomes a complete nutter. Maybe he'll be teaching the hikers about drinking water from bear scat or showing them how to repel down a waterfall instead of hiking down a perfectly good trail.

You never know. Anyway I am sure Rich made an impact, so they might think of him in the future. Let's hope so, his talents are pretty much wasted in his current position.

'Sorry to hear about the job Rich - I can tell your heart was set on that one.'
Yep. Now I'm home, I need to do a little soul-searching.
For now, though, we're home, safe and well. We got back at about 4.30 after 16 hours of travelling, and found out our lock wasn't working so we couldn't get into the flat. After an hour, I gave up and smashed a side door in. It was quite an entrance.
