I've just got rid of the last guests from my bonfire night party, which took place a day late because my family all work in the hotel and struggle to get the same night off
It's been a great, great night. I've been planning it for days. I dug a fire pit in the garden so we had somewhere to cook jacket potatoes and garlic bread among the embers and a place to keep mulled wine, chilli and beans warm. I also had a barbecue going, and everyone brought a few fireworks, a drink and some food along. Aside from the 'standard' bonfire night party, we had a special treat; a whole leg of lamb that I slow-cooked in the oven this afternoon and finished over the fire. We opened it in keen anticipation, and the smell of mint, garlic and fresh tender meat was utterly divine.
As the night wore on, we found ourselves gathered round the fire rather than indoors as we would normally be. As people drifted away, we found ourselves moving closer to the fire, closing the circle and bringing us nearer to our friends. It felt perfectly symbolic out there under the stars. The great thing was that there were lots of people there who didn't really like being outside on a cold autumn night, but they all wanted to come and sit by my fire and stare at the embers. No-one mentioned the TV or cared about having music on.
Around midnight, our numbers had gone down to four, and we brought out my guitar and some extra beers and had a great laugh writing a Christmas song. I hope the lyrics are still legible in the morning, and that we follow through our plan to record it in my cousin's home studio
All in all, it's been a perfect night. I felt a great calm out there,, and I think the memories will last a long, long time.

I got just by reading it. I needed that with six days to our election for Folketinget (parliament).
Sometimes I wonder whether you have some extra hours tucked away - which noone else has.
You have/make time for w*rk, friends, family, different projects - and hootoo.
I've taken on to cover our election from a local point of view - at a local radio station which reaches about 45.000 potential listeners. Singlehandedly, being the only journalist, and with a great help from a technician. He has offered to begin an hour early this morning, so I'd better join him. All the employees are handicapped in some way, working in a flexjob.

That sounds great. Some friends of ours threw a party too, and we also found ourselves huddled around the fire.
