They should be able to tell whom it belonged to... as well as where it be...
Reminds me of an old Cheech and Chong routine too puerile for even this fora.

I think, maybe you take the world far too seriously! If they could smell em at distance and identify them, it would make a great game. We would surly see Sir David on our TV showing us the great hide and go seek being played in the woods all over the mostly harmless planet.

Most bears have a magnificent sense of smell, to aid the fact that they don't have much in the way of vision.
This is why their nose circuitry in the brain and the skull is so much more enhanced than their ocular thingies.
