Her work days, pillaging around her local zones, keep her mostly busy. But I do get an occassional chance to natter with her in the later evening.

For some reason, they chose this week to run a surprise exercise. We are still at half strength as some of the lads are still overseas, but the Ruperts wanted us to hit all the marks and impress.

There are rumors afoot of downsizing so some of the lads are worried. We are still on course to receive the next batch for June, though, so it can't be all bad.

I think it's just chinese whispers.

Every military is full of those, aren't they? And yet, there IS a seed to each whisper, so you keep it in the corner of the mind. The 'what if it does happen' ... and try to be prepared.

I do hear that there is lots of room in the world for a great PI now that our hero has hung up his deerstalker.

Well, if work is slow as a PI, you could always don an alternate identity, ... And chase yourself.

I'm not sure that would work unless I could create more identities to corroborate my tales.

They have run us ragged this week. The wife has hardly seen me, but has not been idle (check your emails) and the daughter (and mistress of the house) was in trouble on Monday for fighting!
I got the "your daughter" speech when I arrived home yesterday.

How did you ever cope with yours?

Ya love 'em, ya try to set a good example, yer gotta be patient ... And sometimes, a swat to the bum is needed. Hopefully, once or twice in a life-time is enough though. 'Cause the most important bit is to show exactly how sorrowful you are that you hafta ... Play on their guilt, ya know?

Got quite few of those hairs myself. My dad is still fairly dark, which has brought our ex-milkman under some suspicion.

I think there is too much of the wife in this little madam at times. She's normally a little angel at school, and has already patched things up with her fellow combatant. Life's much simpler when you are that age, I suppose.

It was a small village I grew in, ... a brewery of 100+ years of good history and many farmers as the basic staples. So a blacksmith still had a good position.

Mind you, he also acted as post-master and barber.
