When I grow up....

Post 1

When I grow up, I want to be like my dad.

I know that's a thing every wee boy says, but I'm saying it now as an adult after a good deal of observation. He has inner strength which nobody knows about. He's not macho, his is a more enduring strength. He's been through a lot, but he's come out wiser and caring and strong.

He isn't naive, but he has a strong sense of what's right and what's wrong. He's a bit of a humanist. I am not sure whether he knows how much I respect him, but I think he gets it - we're male and Irish so we read between the lines. smiley - winkeye

I love him and I'm glad he's not dead yet. smiley - laugh

You can call me TC

I've been wanting to comment on this post, but never managed to find anything that didn't sound trite. It's a lovely sentiment.

But the title keeps putting the song into my head from the musical "Matilda". smiley - winkeye

I didn't know what to say earlier, either, but I admire the sentiment too.

I look quite a lot like my dad, but in other ways we're very different, so we struggle to get on at times. However, even though he must think I'm completely weird and wonder where I came from really smiley - aliensmile, he is still there for me when I need him, with his strength and life experience, and he's proud of what I have achieved, so I'm proud of him for that - I love him and I'm glad he's not dead yet also. smiley - laugh
