I don't want to speak too soon, but I think I've finally managed to engineer my job to be the way I want it. It's taken years and a lot of hassle to do. But it's great to be able to enjoy Sunday evenings, without a sense of dread that gets deeper with every tick of the second hand on the clock.

Getting rid of obnoxious boss made a big difference. She'd basically made relations so bad that eventually she was left with no alternative than to quit and go elsewhere. I'd rather it had been sorted more amicably than that, but I'm glad it happened. If we'd been in the same room much longer there would have been ructions. You'd probably have seen our photos on the news...

New boss is much more my kind of person. Similar outlook and attitude, and grasps the fact that being an arseyhole isn't in anyone's interest.

On top of that, I'm once again working on my own big meaty projects, that I can get stuck into and do them the way they *should* be done. I like big hefty projects I can get immersed in, and work out the best way to do them myself. People have said in the past that it's "my way or the highway" with me, but that's not exactly true. It's not a question of doing it "my" way, it's a question of doing it the *right* way. smiley - winkeye (it's not as arrogant as it sounds, it's just that I've been doing this long enough to know what works, and what doesn't. If there's an obvious way, and I'm not doing it, it's probably because experience has shown me the flaws in doing it that way.)

I once again like my job. Now, if I could only get them to double my wages...But that's a slightly harder nut to crack. smiley - laugh

Sho - employed again!

sounds good, apart from not getting double the salary, but it means a lot to like your job

Definitely...it affects your life outside of work too. It's surprising how much.

You can call me TC

What with you and Mala, it seems that NI is rife with lousy bosses.

Argh, this is embarrassing.

Someone new has started, and I know her. Or at least she knows me - I knew her pretty well a few years ago, but I'll be damned if I can remember her name. smiley - flustered She remembers a hell of a lot about me, but all I really remember about her is a) she's a yank, and b) she's an anabaptist.

So being as how I don't know her name, is it less rude to call her "The Yank" or "The Anabaptist"? smiley - run
