We stream Netflix directly through our TV, and it also starts the next episode after 15 seconds. It doesn't bother me too much, since we usually pause if one or the other of us leaves the room. The TV in the bedroom for falling asleep in front of, isn't connected to anything that can stream Netflix (the BluRay and PS3 are in the living room). On those weekends when there's really not much else to do, my husband is perfectly capable of streaming episode after episode of something he's in the mood for. As for me, much like DVD marathons, if we're streaming a TV show, I'm good for maybe three episodes and then I want to switch to something else. Fortunately, there aren't many TV shows on Netflix we're interested in watching that we don't already own.

That said, I decided to replace my existing Harry Potter DVDs with the BluRay/DVD box set, released and received yesterday, which contains all of the bonus materials, and the comeplete series of Speed Racer in a cute Mach-5 shaped tin. So a marathon of some sort is likely this weekend. smiley - winkeye

I've been to the cinema for a film evening, where a friend and I watched two films back to back, but there was a half hour break between the films, so we could get up and move around a bit before the next session and it was quite pleasant smiley - ok

The longest box-set session I have ever managed was 3 hours of Brideshead Revisited (4 episodes of 45 minutes each) because I was so eager to find out what happened next. Afterwards I felt really stiff and uncomfortable, though, so it wasn't 100% fun... A maximum of two in one go was much better smiley - ok

I enjoyed the Intermission in Gone With the Wind, too, as that would have been challenging to watch all in one go...

I've done the Lord Of The Rings extended back to back, 12 hours viewing pleasure smiley - biggrin

We "borrowed" a video projector from work and screened it on the wall of a friend's flat in Oxford. Between films we popped around to the local cinema to get take away popcorn smiley - laugh

I went to a friend's place one evening for a triple feature of Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Ravenous. We ate fried chicken during the viewing of Dawn of the Dead. Everyone there was highly encouraged to take a bite of chicken every time a zombie bit into flesh onscreen. smiley - laugh

A local theater - one of the independent neighborhood ones - hosts a horror movie marathon every year called Terror In The Aisles. It starts on Saturday morning, there is a sleepover, and it ends on Sunday evening. People bring their jammies and everything. I haven't made it to one in years, but I really want to!

The Alamo Draft House (former workplace of our Gosho) hosts Ain't It Cool News' annual film marathon called "Butt Numb-a-Thon".

years ago when a "new" (3rd or 4th, I can't remember - the Michael Keaton years) Batman film came out we went to the cinema and watched the first 2 (I'm pretty sure it was only 2) and the 3rd one at midnight. All I remember of that is I really didn't like Batman in German.

We're currently watching all the Avengers films, but not back to back.

We've done the Iron Man ones, nipped back to Thor, and Captain America, next up is Hulk and then Avengers Assemble.

So obviously this is over the course of several nights, rather than one film stops, another starts because there's just too many of them.

Although we do have a Kill Bill Double Bill lined up that I'm supposed to be organising.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Ah, Butt Numb-a-Thon. What memories smiley - headhurts You too can spend 24 hours in a cinema with 180 other movie smiley - geeksmiley - geeksmiley - geek, including Harry Knowles. After they'd all left we had to shotblast and disinfect the entire room. The pong was quite dreadful smiley - yuk Thank Bob I never had to work the graveyard shift on that one, but the breakfast rush at around 7am, when they all got their second wind and realised how hungry they suddenly were for oceans of coffee and soda and breakfast tacos was a complete 'mare.

Just before I left they started a new film marathon idea. When the next in a series of blockbuster film came out they'd show all the previous films on Thursday during the day, leading up to the midnight show of the new one.

Yes, Twilight. And yes, Harry Potter 1 - 6 starting at, I think, 9am, followed by Deathly Hallows part 2.

And one time we had Butt Numb-a-Thon from Saturday morning to Sunday and morning *and then* the aforementioned Lord of the Rings Feast (not the one I went to). In the same theatre smiley - facepalm It tickled the LOTR folks no end though cos Elijah Wood had been at BNAT and then showed up as a surprise guest at the feast smiley - biggrin

And yes, he really is this tall *holds thumb and forefinger three inches apart* smiley - bigeyes
