Well, that was fun. The sealed of both ends of the street today, when they got reports that there was somebody running about toting a gun. Of course, P. and I happened to be within the sealed-off area when they cordoned it off. The nicest pub in town also happened to be within the sealed-off zone.

There's not a lot you can do about these things.

For reasons that probably make sense to the police hive mind, they had blocked off both ends of the street, but none of the alleys or streets running *off* that street. But I thought going out one of those ways would be going against the spirit of the law. No, the police clearly wanted us to go to the pub for a couple of hours in the name of public safety. And who am I to argue?
