For those wondering, "bangarda" is a Gaelic word meaning "female guard". The Police force in Ireland is called the Garda Siochana (Guardians of the Peace). A policeman is simply called a Garda, a policewoman is a Bangarda. That is why, in Ireland, you often hear the police referred to as the Guards.
