Hi Jon, welcome to the board, are you a livestock, mixed or arable farmer?
Hope you have fun here.

Neither, I'm more of a smallholder. We own just over an acre and are building our house there as well.
Think of me and my family as modern day 'Tom & Barbara' I spend a lot of my weekends out collecting wild food and animals whether they like it or not.
Why should hunter gathering be the preserve of the pagans eh?
Cheers
Jon
Oh yes, the home brewing is coming along nicely as well. I can recommend gathering the elderberries if you are out and about.

Hi Jon,
It looks like we'll be starting our own brewing circle soon
Tim's just restarted after a long gap, and Ian's out at his weekly homebrew night.
How long have you been doing the smallholder bit? I think I've done well to manage to grow a tomato and a couple of courgettes!

Hi Sally,
Quite a few years now, grow a wide variety of things and gather wild food a lot but my forte is cooking.
I also have a little boat and try to get out most weekends to catch mackeral etc. I also have a few pots and caught my first lobster last weekend.
You know of Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall? That's me but with short hair.

Hi Jon,
You don't eat woodlice and roadkill, do you? We love watching Hugh thingy-wotsit, his programmes are some of the funniest around. I think it's the wonderfully enthusiastic way he has a go at everything.
(And our 12 year-old's face was a picture, the first time he saw the episode when the male calf had his prospects limited, so to speak )
It must keep you pretty busy, building your house as well. I always admire people who do that sort of thing, mainly because it takes me ages even to get round to painting a room

Woodlice, no they don't taste nice. Roadkill, shall I just say not yet?
Blackberries are very ripe if anyone needs encouragement to get outside. Elderberries are also still ripe for the brewers here.
You can pick your tea and wonder at the splendour of creation!
