End of the world? Hoo-ha! 2

Hello Eliezer,
There is a list at the side of 'your space' of all the threads you've been involved in. It tells you if there are any new posts. It can take a while, as this place is much bigger than the CMB, and I don't think people check their areas as often (Some of the topics were written years ago )
If you click on a person's name, it will take you to their space and you can see what threads they have been on. There is a bit which says 'this is a reply to ' - if you click on 'this post' it takes to the one being answered.
It's a bit cumbersome, but at least you can post in the middle of the night if you want to.
Sally

Hi Pondero,
glad you had a good time at Niagra - I will offer my prayers too

No, Ani my wife is not going to undergo chemotherapy but radiation treatment.
On another topic: you are a very intriguing person. Married or single I do not know, but in some of your early posts I found you revealed the following. You have a degree in English Literature and one in Electrical Engineering. What a strange combination, yet your last job that you told us about was teaching pottery at some studio or other. You are training to be a union steward, presumably with an Ontario gov't union, therefore you must be employed by some Ont gov agency or other. You are involved in community activities up to your neck. and are a practising Catholic, yet you have no social work training, or legal training, yet you quote things as does a lawyer at times. You take vacations on Manitoulin Island. You have taken Outward Bound courses (given by the Duke of Edinborough) You have English relatives in London and know a lot about England How much is true and how much a red herring I wonder.
Are you working for CSIS or is it MI5 or MI6?
Would the real ani please stand up!

Thanks Tim.
A note about your postings on the CTMB. The style of your posts is difficult for me to comprehend fully. They do sound a bit pompous at times. I notice that they are carefully crafted pieces, and I know you never wish to offend.

On a humourous note Tim. My eyes were bleary and when you said" I hope you had a good time at Niagra." I misread it at first as
"Hope you had a good time with Viagra." A freudian slip)
Fortunately I don't need it.

OK. Not a problem: to keep the skin intact while she is in treatment: 100% aloe directly after the treatment, and any time after that baking soda (not salt) in water, vitamin E caps broken over the skin, shark cream (or vitamin A) rubbed into the skin. The radiation team at Princess Margaret (they will likely send your wife there) is very friendly. Your wife will also meet a lot of terrific people in the waiting room. Princess Mag has a huge lobby in the back with a grand piano. Entertainers from all over come to play and sing.

What a fascinating reply Ani. You didn't say whether or not you worked for CSIS)
I am under fire on the CTMB this morning from Stephen ( the one in sunny Spain). I hate to argue, but sometimes it is necessary.

Ani: The man who sat in the next cubicle to me at work was both a CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and had an engineering degree. A person I met while doing a field audit was a CA working for a CA firm and also had an engineering degree. Why is it, I wonder, that so many engineers do not find employment in their field?
We were a great group at work. We used to have lunch together every Christmas at a Brampton restaurant. I intend to go to lunch with them this Christmas, even though I am now retired .
The man with an engineering degree would say to me "Hey, Les. take a look at this.." then he would read some figures from a tax return and we would both have a good laugh, before assigning it for field audit.
Opposite me was a young field auditor, a macho type, interested in sports (I am not, but we got on well together). He spent some years with SI (Special Investigations). Diagonally across from me was Mr K. A bachelor who looks like Dilbert the cartoon character. Has an encyclopedic knowledge of Corporation Tax and teaches other auditors ( including myself) the details. Then there is an auditor who is in his seventies from GST (like VAT) who sits nearby. He will never retire)
Oh how I miss that group now that I am gone!

Dear Pondero. Your post about the good old buddies is very timely for me. A while back a bunch of us started the Starscafe. I had the best human beings in the world for bosses, the best staff, and the best clients. I always thought that that particular configuration of people and principles was a formula for what my life was intended to be. But it wasn't it. It was just a gift. To me. Nothing asked in return.
I don't know if you saw Andrei Tarkovsky's film, 'Nostalgia.' There is a scene in an empty swimming pool. (Sven Nykvist's serenely fearless cinematography!) A guy is trying to walk from one end to the other carrying a lit candle. The deal for the guy is to get to the other end without letting the candle go out.
I worry about you. Some weeks ago, you said that you were leaving the ctmb; that you were looking for something more worthwhile to do with your retirement. At the same time, we hear that Mrs Pondero is ill. Subjecting yourself on a daily basis to the ctmb Catholic-bashing can't be good for you. (Like, I'm one to speak) On an interim basis, why don't you link up with the Canadian Cancer Society? There must be some volunteer spots which would get you hooked up with some fun people again.
Don't do this alone, Pondero. There's no need to.
Perhaps what I am trying to say is that we often ask for too little. So much of our relationship with God is about accepting gifts. I have found that he rarely asks me to do something and, when He does, I sure know about it. Maybe your old buddies were just a gift. To you. Nothing asked in return. Do you not think God has more gifts to give you? Ani.

Hi Anni: This is the second time I have posted a reply, the first one is in cyberspace.
Well, Mrs Camilert ( not her real name) came out of hospital yesterday and is out shopping with our daughter. She can't drive for 48 hours. All appears to be well as the cancer was 15mm and taken out, and only one lymph gland was removed and that had no cancer cells in it. Thanks for enquiring.
(When anyone calls for Mrs Camillert I know its a telemarketing person.)
Mrs C. collects for the Cancer Society from people on our street each year. I take the money in, to the smiles of all concerned. She does the work and I get the smiles. Life is unfair isn't it?
Well, I have to get lunch and when they get back from shopping I have to have the upstairs vacuuming done.
