Hi Edward - I see you're back, perhaps fleetingly - hope all's well with you and yours.
Interested (and a bit surprised) to find you've gone over to the Nat side. I remember thinking during the referendum campaign how difficult I'd find it if I lived and worked in Scotland to decide how to vote. On the one hand, sick of English Tories, on the other hand, very suspicious of nationalists and nationalisms. Plus, you know, being English and having an attachment to the union (at least of England, Scotland, Wales). Maybe Gordon Brown's speech might have made the difference for me, but who knows?
But if you've wholeheartedly embraced the Nats, you presumably don't accept the nationalist chameleon narrative - that other than a narrow nationalism, every other value is up for grabs. I ask because you're someone whose opinion I respect, and because it sounds like you'd have noticed....
Personally I found myself in the odd position of being a Green Party member and voting Labour in my not-quite-a-marginal constituency. Partly because of the arithmetic, partly because of the Greens science policies still being barking, partly because of the mediocre campaign they fought, partly because I was impressed by EdM during the campaign - not least by how much his enemies seemed to hate and fear him.
Things look pretty bleak at the moment this side of the border.. but hopefully the Tories will do a 1992 and implode. Hopefully.
