Edward the Bonobo - Gone.

Damn! They've gone and moved my desk so that my back - and more to the point, my screen - now face a main passageway.

The uptical pracshot of this is that I will be less able to abuse my employer's hospitality. So please don't feel offended if I don't join in as much as previously. And cease that applause!

I'll still check in when I can - but I've got 2 weeks holiday from next Friday (Derbyshire and Yorkshire). Then in August I'm having my wrist slashed, so I'll have to see how well I can type with my left hand. (Carpal tunnel syndrome. I'm having a more disabling operation than I'd been led to believe)

Nothing worse than being positioned so that you can't enjoy your workday as much as possible. It's sometimes the case here, as well.

More importantly, though, I hope you'll enjoy your holiday. And I will be keeping fingers and toes crossed that the operation goes without a hitch and you'll make a speedy and full recovery.

And I'll miss hearing as much from you in the interim. smiley - sadface

Sorry to hear that Ed
Perhaps the only virtue is my job is that no management are around at night and I can spend all my time on Hootoo

Nice pun there Recumbantman. Sorry to here about this Edward. Maybe you could scream "I'm living in a Dilbert cartoon!" a few times.

Edward the Bonobo - Gone.

I should clarify - I wasn't looking for sympathy over my operation. It's nothing too major. Local anaesthetic only, and I don't have many squeams. I'm the kind of person who can watch a Gunther Hagens dissection without flinching. In fact, one of his tV programmes reminded me very much of my vasectomy (I didn't see a vas deferens smiley - smiley).

The only thing that bothers me is the general embuggerance. I didn't realise that I was going to be quite so disabled for so long. I'm strongly dextrous and hardly sinister at all smiley - vampire.

Carpal tunnels always remind me of those wee ornaments in goldfish bowls for the smiley - orangefish to swim through.

Good that you keep up the good mood about the surgery! Hope your doctors are wrong and you recover much faster than expected!
The way I see it though, your major problem is with the overexposuresmiley - winkeye I remember when we needed to move to a new office - there was a huge fight over who gets the places closest to the window and furthest from the door! It's none of the bosses' business what we are doing at work, right?smiley - winkeye
May be you should train your ears to pick up the steps of the boss and switch to appropriate web page as soon as he/she comes by... smiley - smiley

I certainly do sympathize with the recovery time. It's the being even slightly incapacitated for however long it takes to heal that's the real pain in the backside. Not being able to use one's hand(s) is a pain. Although the body quickly adapts- I learned to write right-handed when I broke my left wrist in the fifth grade.
