What's the difference?

I've allways wondered what the difference between the cold and the flu is?
Anybody care to help me find out?
The reason I ask is that I've never found out wether I've got one or the other...

Cold is vertical, flu is very definitely horizontal. If you have to ask whether you've got the flu, you don't have it.

Hope you're better now. If not, try this sure-fire cure. Get yourself a good bottle of whisky, or any other favourite strong drink. Light a candle and put it at the foot of the bed. Get into bed and drink the bottle at a moderately fast pace. When you can see two candles at the foot of the bed, blow them both out and go to sleep. In the morning you'll be right as rain. Between cold and Flu?
A doctor on the radio last week summed it up thus - If you can get to see a doctor at the surgery it's a cold, if the doctor has to come and see you at home it's flu!

I've spotted a flaw in your argument, though, which is that doctors hardly ever make house calls anymore...

But then how do you know whether it's only a cold or a sinus infection? Or does it not matter and you should treat them the same anyway.
