It surprised me when I read of the supposed rejection of Hank Mancini by GM when I spoke with Mancini he told me his meeting with Miller was brief at best, it was in Atlantic City where GM asked him his name and what he played ,after Hank replied the meeting was all but over, and he went overseas playing Organ for a Chaplin, it wasn't until after the War that he went to work playing Piano and Arranging for Beneke , he never thought he would play in the AAF Orchestra , since he was a relative unknown at the time. He met his future Wife Ginny when he was with Beneke...Hank
