Of course, we've no life after this
We are lucky, at all, to exist
It is just as well
Since there isn't a hell
Except those here on earth, that is
It seems mean to state this plain fact
Though doubtlessly true and exact
It gives little relief
Should a desperate belief
In salvation just be left intact?
I think not and I'll tell you why
A hope based on some shaman's lie
Doesn't really convince
And doubt creeps in since
We all know in our hearts we must die
"Please tell us what we want to hear"
"We are mortal and weak and have fear"
I'm sorry, my friends
Life is short and it ends
It couldn't be any more clear
Take heart, we are not all dead yet
And not for a while, don't forget
To love and to live,
Be kind and forgive
Thus endeth my little vignette

Thanks for posting this YB. Very witty and definitely a pleasure to read.
It's great hearing from you again, too.

We don't see you on h2g2 often enough these days. I've been thinking -- yet again -- of trying to revive The Circle. I enjoyed our group there of "thoughtful" people.
