Ms Bush (no relation to President Bush, I would think) released her album Wuthering Heights when I was in Europe serving with the US armed forces in 1989. I had never heard of her before, but was introduced by a Bohemian girlfriend. I was hooked by her sound. She was so different to anything that I'd heard to that point that she captivated me and held me until someone stole the cassette (along with almost everything else I had at the time). I've had an opportunity to listen again recently, and her sound has been co-opted by everyone else so that she has lost her uniqueness. Perhaps it's best that she pauses in her carreer until she can come back with a new and different captvating sound again,

Talk about "co-opted" - certainly, for all her unique individual and original talent, Tori Amos has to be Usual Suspect #1!?

Wuthering Heights (a single) was released in 1978, as was her first album, The Kick Inside. She's never released an album called Wuthering Heights.

Yeah, you're probably right. Sorry for the misinformation. It may have been "Running up that Hill" or something like that. My memory stinks.

Indeed, Tori Amos picked up and ran with that "sound". I thought that it was Ms. Bush until I found out that the newer material I was listrning to was someone I'd never heard of, "Tori Amos who?"
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
