Baggage on the Eurostar - what's the real deal?

I will be traveling from Paris to London on the Eurostar in the fall and wonder how much luggage I can bring on board. The response I received from Eurostar's customer service was a bit vague - 1 carry-on and 2 suitcases but no specific size limitations were given. I can make myself travel quite lightly but I was hoping to so some shopping so would need a larger suitcase. I value comments from fellow travellers as much and sometimes more than the official line.
