Well, I've worked out a basic solo training thingy...
It goes like this:
· Warm-up.
· Footwork minus sword.
· Mulinello (Lit. "windmill" - warm-up with sword).
· Guards + footwork with sword.
· Cutting: Fendente ("Cleaving", downwards diagonal) - Mon/Fri, Sottano (Can't find a translation of the word as presented by Fiore, but it's similar to the modern "sottana" or "skirt", upwards diagonal) - Wed/Sat, Mezano ("Middle", horizontal)- Thurs/Sun.
· Thrusting & parrying if time allows.
· Warm down.
In other news:
On Saturday Matt Easton of the Schola Gladiatoria (http://www.fioredeiliberi.org/) is going to be in Swindon doing a longsword class! Squeeee!
Most of you will be thinking "Who? And why is Mr. D so excited about this?"
Well, Matt Easton is possibly the foremost longswording guy in the UK. And he's giving is six hours of his time for free! All we have to do is pay a bit of cash on the day so Alan can recover the cost of hiring the hall. It's going to be tiring and possibly painful, but I'm willing to take that risk.
