Welcome to h2g2, Rich Dee! My name is Shea, and I am an Assistant Community Editor (ACE). We're a group of volunteers that wander about welcoming and helping new Researchers. If you want to ask me a question, or need help with anything, just hit the "Reply" button and leave a message, I'll pop back in and help you in any way I can!

Wow ... you don't have a PC, cellphone or a car? I'm thinking that you probably communicate better with people face-to-face than most nowadays! smiley - winkeye

If you're interested, I made a page with a list of links that you might like to check out. It's at A534953

If you ever want to talk to a Researcher, just click on their name. That will take you to their Personal Space, and you can leave them a message there (like I'm doing now!) by clicking on the 'Leave A Message' button.

If you'd like to contribute to the Guide with an Entry, check out the Writing Guidelines at A53209

Most importantly Rich Dee, have fun! You might find yourself meeting some great new friends! I know I have! smiley - smiley

Hi there Shea, thanks for the kind welcome

I have migrated to H2G2 because most of my friends from the terminally slow, and frequently argumentative, BBC Radio 2 message boards have been doing the same over the past few weeks!

Also I am a big fan of Douglas Adams since my father introduced me to the books in 1980, and I was lucky enough to go to a long DA reading in college when 'Dirk Gently' came out.

This looks like a warm & fuzzy place to visit, just my kind of webspace.

My only problem at the moment is battling with a public library terminal which keeps logging me out for no good reason!

I'm glad you and your friends are migrating, Rich! The more the merrier! smiley - ok

You're lucky you got to see ... hear ... DNA do a reading! I saw him once in New York at a MacWorld Expo. It was when he was working on Starship Titanic.

Sometimes it isn't the computer that causes problems around here. I've noticed on occasion that the website itself times out. I was having some of those problems last night. I find that hitting the "back" button and trying again *usually* works. Of course, sometimes it causes you to post twice when you didn't mean to. Ah ... computers! Gotta love 'em. smiley - tongueout
