BRUTON

Yes, I've heard of Bruton. I remember years ago I heard a traditional English folk song sung by Martin Carthy, called "Bruton Town". I can't remember what the song was about, but I shall research and return to this if anyone is interested. Anyway a few weeks ago whilst travelling through Somerset I found myself in Bruton and was amazed to realise that this was the the place mentioned in the song and it actually existed. To come across this new posting on h2g2 was too much of a coincidence and I had to be the first to reply!

Wow- I'm dead impressed you actually found yourself passing through here! Let me know more about the song as I've never heard of it - sorry. There are quite a few refernces to Bruton in London (e.g. Bruton Street etc incidentally the street in which the Queen was born in) because Richard Fitzjames came from Bruton and when he grew up back in the depths of the 1600's I think he became the sovereign's excheqor. Hope I haven't got too confused.
BTW - how come you passed through anyway?! Cheers

Just curious....but are you an Encyclopedia trying to pass himself off as a human? Cos your making a poor job if you are! If this sounds offensive.....its not supposed to I was just amazed at how much you seem to know. I mean I've only read to paragraphs you've written and in those to paragraphs you appear to have doubled all of the knowledge I possess! Well congratulations you seem to have doubled the knowledge of the stupidest person on Earth that must make you the second stupidest! Sorry if this strayed from your subject! I just had to make my point! I'm From Weston-super-Mare b.t.w. not too far from you I believe! Later
