When my Cable Guide arrived last week I was delighted to see that the hugely successful 80's hit TV series "Moonlighting" was to be repeated, from the very begining of the first series. The series starred Cybill Sheperd and Bruce Willis and was based around the exploits of the stars and the rediculous cases they investigated for clients of the Blue Moon Detective agency. The series ran from 1985 to 1989, thus spanning the most crucial of my formative years from ages 15 to 19. Each morning after an episode was screened the bus to school was totally dominated by discussions about what "Maddie" and "David" had been upto. We all so wanted to have the style and grace of Sheperd or the charm and cool whit of Willis. Put simply, it was THE hit series to my sixth form. Thus, with all these memories flooding around my mind, all those half remembered episodes and the fond reminiscence of the smokey, sweaty bus journeys to school I sat down excitedly to watch the pilot episode. The main point of this entry is therefore to remind myself and others that teenage memories are probably best as just that: Memories, as the disappointment of being rather underwhelmed by revisiting the experience is such a let down.Let sleeping dogs lie.
