Some tapering, bad art

Made an executive decision on my application to become a community artist. After several attempts and going through the catalog of pictures, I found it's much harder than I thought it would be. Don't feel too bad about it, though. Lots of things I can write about, and I'm sure there's a large contingent of people with graphic design degrees floating around the Guide to make much nicer pictures than I could.
Still contemplating an American Asthma entry. Got tons of extra hours at work, so my 'puter time is a tad more limited nowadays. I really like to write informational essays, though. It's the only way I managed to graduate highschool (was in state care and moved around a lot -- 8 different highschools!) and how I got as far as I did in college (before I realized that I didn't much like* the college atmosphere).
It's been a while since I did any formal writing and I'm finding that my bad habits (run-on sentences, numerous parenthetical asides) have grown and flourished in the absence of anyone reading my writing. I think the GuideML footnote scheme will help with the asides, but I'm going to have to watch out, or I'll have more footnotes than actual entry content. Heh. 2 page entry -- 5 pages of footnotes!
Guide was down last night when I tried to get on, so I'm going to do some more looking around, getting ideas for entries.
