Hello Peter,
First let me thank you for the wonderful supportive mail, I had not realised he had a go at you too.
The second I saw the letter from BP I smelled the Australian scent of Kangaroo dung. It was so very typical of those we hoped forgotten memories of a once famous writer or so he told us. Any relation?
At last a Photo and the cheek of it in post war uniform, now as that was exactly the same as the Wartime uniform I did not recognise it straight off, silly me, must remember to slap your hand for that.
Nice to see you in person Peter and notice in one posting there are two lovely ladies fighting over your nubile young body, we should be so lucky.
I have not been on line until today as I did have other things to do, having read the nice things written there I feel I must answer them personally and to hell with BP. I will get through my mail box within the next few days. If some of my own experiences impinge on the page then so be it. In a soldiers career of 30 years hot and cold war there will be a skien of interlacings with previous experience. In our time just after the war to us there was hardly a gap, it was a continuation with the same uniform material and arms.
In the Desert even the same food. Dehydrated potato and cabbage with 1941 on the can lids would taste the same to us as to the lads who fought the war of which I was not one as stated often. The bully beef must have been 1914-18 and you could drink it in the heat of the day but I stray into a forbidden zone, more hand slapping.
I have had outside support while off line so knew some of what was happening and I thank all of my many friends to whom I will post replies in time. Thank you Peter and bless all of my friends it is nice to be missed.
I read the addenum to your page and we have more in common than you think.
Regards Frank.
