Dear Peter,
Thank you for your excellent information about the 5th Inf.Div. This helps me a lot in placing remembered anecdotes of my father’s war service in chronological order.
I can now concentrate on researching the last few months of the war which was spent in Belgium and North Germany after travelling up through France after ‘Operation Dragoon’. He used to tell me of how they travelled through France in railway cattle wagons.
If you can give me any pointers regarding the 92nd’s service with the Guards Division after 12-6-45 I would be very much obliged to you.
Kind Regards,
Colin May.

Dear Colin,
Sorry. The only information I have, from the same source "Orders of Battle - Second World War 1939-1945" (HMSO, 1960), is that 92nd Field Regiment were part of the Guards Division formed on 12 June 1945 under the command of Major-General A. H. S. Adair, in 1st Corps District, NW Europe, until 31.8.45.
NW Europe at this date after the war usually indicates the British Zone of Germany and in particular what became known as B.A.O.R; but this is an assumption on my part in this particular case.
Kind regards,
Peter
