To, Ron Goldstein,
Have just read your article:- Trieste Oct.45 - Jan.47. What interests me most is the reference to "Eddy Patman" I knew Pat as he was widely known, from the days of Barnard Catle 1943 when we were both shipped abroad in December on board the ssNae Hellas, ending up at Oran Nth Africa.
As soon as I met Pat I took a liking to him, he was a feller who was always cheerfull and we got on well to-gether. I went with him on the day we knew we were going abroad, to make a phone call to a girl friend of his by the name of Debora Kerr, yes she was well known even then, I did'nt know whether to believe him, but he asked for her when he called London that night.
We stayed to-gether through our time in Nth Africa, another mate was Stan Paton, until we were sent to our various Regts, I went to the 51st RTR who were involved in the Hitler Line battle. I don't know what happened to Stan, but I knew Pat survived the war because I saw him shortly before being sent to the 8th RTR, although he told me he had received a bullet wound through his leg, as usual laughing as he told me.
In recent yearshave tried to find out what happened to Pat and Stanley, and now after reading your story I learn what happened to him, alas now I cannot meet him its too late.
Ron, if you can be bothered please let me have as much information about Pat as you can, especially copies of any photos you may have. If we can communicate on a better level than this, please make contact, I would be very gratefull

Geoff
I cannot tell you how much pleasure you have given me by writing about our mutual friend 'Pat'.
Please ask the WW2 Team to give you my e-mail address, write to me, and we will swap phone numbers and photos.
All best wishes
Ron
