Awesome. Saw that you took over for Jim. Thanks for posting to let me know that you're officially official. Really.
I'm unsure as to how this works, though. Do posts of changes get made when they're done? Or?
Anywho, thanks for letting me know!

There are no rules. Some subs will work independantly from the author, some just inform the author they are doing it and some tell the auther if they make any changes.
Personally I tend to do the last one. Except for punctuation/spelling etc then I usually post a message if I change something. Or ask if you would mind if something was changed, and run a couple of options by you. But usually there is nothing more than a bit of tidying up to do to fit in with the EG style. (we have a set of guidelines too!)
Afterall, it is *your* entry not mine, so I try to keep to the original text as much as possible, and if I change anything and you don't like it then don't worry about telling me, I won't be offended
Before it gets returned back to the editors I will let you know so you can see if you are happy with it.

I am just about to start it as I have done the other entry in my batch. But it will have to wait until tomorrow as I have had a glass of wine (or two ).
I have recently had my first solo entry accepted to the guide, so for the first time I have been on the other end of the process and found myself being very protective over it Fortunately the sub was ok and I had tried to make sure there wasn't anything to change!
But I understand now how it feels to put a piece of work that you have worked hard on in someone elses hands and not know what they are going to do to it!
But don't worry!

I loved the last line of the entry, but unfortunatley within a couple of months of it being edited then it would be out of date so I have had to change it. Also one of the external websites won't be up and running for a few months yet so it is effectively a dead link, so I have had to take that out too. Sorry.
When it is working then you can leave a note for the editors to add it in, or leave a note for me and I will memo them

You cannot leave the last line in? I plan on updating it when the album comes out. The entry, that is. That in mind, there's no way it could be left in? I mean, as it is now, the change effectively says the exact same thing, just way less cool. :P
And as far as the dead link goes, I can agree and disagree. Honestly, the band website says the exact same things so I was kind of unsure as to if it was even worth including, and I'm not sure as to when they'll update the studio link so it doesn't really matter. I'll message you/the editors to have it put in when something actually happens to it. My concern is really with the last line, which I really, really liked, it makes me feel witty. Is there any way we could keep it in, such as doing a footnote or an append after it (P.J Soles is slated for an April 6th, 2004 release date, blah blah, etc)?
Thanks a million!

hi again I tried the band link and it seemed ok.
As far as the last line goes, I really loved it too. Unfortunately I don't know when the entry will go on the frontpage. There are only two staff on site now that deal with the community side and the Guide side so they may see it as extra work to have monitor it and change it in 3 months time.
However - because it was such a good line, what I will do is re-instate it and email the editors with a note, saying that as soon as the albumn is released you wish to add a paragraph to the entry on it. The trouble is that you have no editing rights on the EG entry so you can't add it in and it needs to go via the editors. But I am sure they won't mind adding in a paragraph!!
If as soon as it is released then you can either send me the update or post it on <./>feedback-editorial</.> then I will try to convince them that it is worth keeping the line in But I can't make promises as they make the final decision.
How does that sound?
