Ok, I just had to leave a message, even though it's going to be short. I'm about to finish work and go home, but I promise I'll write something better tomorrow, ok?
Alright, I give in...
njan (afh) Posted Jan 3, 2002
Mno! Don't fall to her evil scheme! People all over h2g2 are selling their souls to her username leavemeamessage trick! *snigger*
Alright, I give in...
Jerms Posted Jan 3, 2002
What's this selling my soul business? I would never sell my soul - it makes it so hard to hire it out.
Anyway, I'm back at work (just started a 12:15pm - heehee; and the boss isn't here!... Slacker? Me? Never.)
Er... I'm in a tangent kind of a mood. What was I saying?
Right.
How come you only posted that last reply 50 minutes ago? Aren't you in England? That makes it, er... Oh. Ok. Around midnight your time. That's not too bad. I thought it would be around 4am or something.
Ever have one of those days where you wish you could just /Shut/ /Up/?
I'll try this whole 'first impressions' thing again when I have something decent to say... or, at least, something intelligible. Intelligable? Intellagible? Readable.
Shut up, Jerms.

Lisa the Freak // Poet by the Toga Posted Jan 4, 2002
The whole selling of souls thing is entirely optional; I must state that now. Of course, it is highly recommended...
12.15??!
so what are you not slacking from?
Yeah, it was about 11 or 12 last night. I haven't done the 4am thing since August last year.
Wishing-you-could-just-shut-up days: oh yeah, all the time. Engage mouth before opening brain...
First impressions last and cast shadows on the rest...0/~
Well, no, not really. At least, not with me. I just had to get the Elastica reference in.
But don't shut up! It would be very hard to keep a conversation going if half of it shut up

Jerms Posted Jan 6, 2002
I think I'm subscribed to too many conversations - I just about lost this one. Not for any personal reason, and I knew it was there somewhere... I just couldn't remember what the subject heading was, and couldn't find it, so I had to go back to the page where I first heard your name, and follow the link back to your page, the work out which conversations you were subscribed to that I was as well. A very round about way, I must say. Sort of like calling someone to find out what their telephone number is...
I didn't really mean that I was going to completely shut up, just that I wished I could stop dribbling nonsense and actually say something. But I'm feeling better today - I think the pills have kicked in.
As you can probably tell by by large postings, I'm at work at the moment. Dare I admit it, but I'm a computer nerd. I work at the Comp. Sci. department at Waikato University, New Zealand. More on that later, 'cause I'm about to go to lunch... gottogobye.

Jerms Posted Jan 7, 2002
Ok, I'm back again. Sorry to rush off, but my workmate was just about out the door. (You can tell we work /really/ hard. ::nods, trying to be convincing, not expecting it to work:: )
As I was saying, I write software, in the classical computer nerd sense. Lately, though, my actual amount of time spent working has nosedived since I found h2g2 - obviously it's good for something!
I may have to be a good little slave-monkey in the near future, 'cause the project that I'm working on is supposed to be finished by the end of Jan, and I've got lots to do. But I promise I'll post to you whenever I get bored/sick of working, Ok?
Take care.

Before I say anything else: ROB ZOMBIE!!!!! The Ballad of Ressurection Joe and Rosa Whore is one of my fave songs, it's just so...cool!
*puts on a RZ album*
I took a day off school today because I am
Neerrrrrrdddd. What are you actually working on atm if I may be so nosy?
h2g2 is good for slacking. You think "I have to check my posts.." and you do, and then you post, and then you start new conversations, and then you just get trapped in the horrible downward spiral and never do any work ever, ever again, because you are stuck here, slaves to the machine, constantly posting and posting and forgetting that you ever had a life outside the Goo...

Jerms Posted Jan 8, 2002
Yes, yes you did. I should have listened to you all along, Njan. I can see now why you guys get on so well.
to you too, Poet. At least I can admit my shame!
At the moment, I'm supposed to be writing some equipment control software for a usability laboratory (usability.cs.waikato.ac.nz - but the website isn't very interesting); Stuff to control cameras and VCRs and things with the computer, across a network.
I'm starting to feel guilty 'cause it's supposed to be finished by the end of January, but I'm taking up most of the day on h2g2 and not actually doing any work. At this rate it isn't even going to be finished before I leave. You're right - h2g2 is /great/ for slacking.
I keep thinking I should join the procrastinators on h2g2, but I never get around to it...

Awwwwww, sorry Jerms Me was only kidding
a URL slipped past the moderators
Interesting... Very interesting.
The thing about work is if you leave it long enough you sort of shed the guilty feelings.. I've got to write my English coursework tonight.
I don't want to
That's the attitude

Jerms Posted Jan 9, 2002
Ironically, I've only been at work for the last three hours (it's 5:30 now; I've just knocked off and I got here at 2:15.), and I've done more work today than I have in the rest of the previous week!
That's programming for you...
What's your English work? Not that I actually have any interest in English as a subject - when I did fifth form English (I don't know what the British eqivalent of Fifth form is; but it was 11th year, if that helps) I got my lowest exam mark ever - 35%! That was the same year that one of the German exchange students got highest in the school, again, in English. Ironic, isn't it? (Note the oozing sarcasm.)
What's funny is that I had been in the top classes for everything up until then, when that English class became a mixed ability one. I spent most of my time then talking to one of my friends from a (much) lower grade-average class. He ended up getting something like 76% in the same exam! We still laugh about that...
I'm glad to see you're up and about. I hope you've fully recovered from whatever it was that you had. If you ever want chicken soup, you know where to find me...

How strange... *jealous*
I have done very little work today, and I'm supposed to be doing the English now but... I'm not.
Umm, it's on Lord of the Flies by William Golding (). I have to write Ralph's memoir of it about 25 years later. Not too hard, just will take painstakingly long.
(Y11, then. I'm Y10.)
Hehe! The moral of the story is don't talk to people, you'll lose your brains
My lowest exam mark ever was 38% (History) which I'm quite proud of, especially since I was *TRYING*. But I didn't try in french at all and got 76% so that makes me feel better about the whole business...
I'm much better now thank you It must have been your
flowers that did it...
Alright, I give in...
Jerms Posted Jan 10, 2002
I remember lord of the flies! I think that was the stuff I was supposed to be working on instead of talking...
I got 77% in French and I /was/ trying! My turn to be jealous...
I'm just glad the s didn't give you hayfever!
Aargh! You've just logged off! Now I have to wait for ages for a reply! So much for wasting most of the day on h2g2 - I might have to do some work, now! (sniff)
Ooh! No! I take it back! Njan just logged on! Yay!
Alright, I give in...
Lisa the Freak // Poet by the Toga Posted Jan 11, 2002
Jerms you are talking to Njan more than I am. Now I be jealous...
*pulls Njan's hair teasingly*
I had a Chemistry test today, on stuff they taught during the two weeks I was off school. I answered something like 10% of the questions, guessing mostly... Let's see what I get
Ah you see if they were real flowers sadly I would have started sneezing etc but they're not so I didn't. :o)

Jerms Posted Jan 14, 2002
I know someone who got about 3% in a maths test.
Basically he walked in, sat down, wrote his name at the top of the page, answered the first question or two, remembered that he'd already passed the course so he didn't really need to be there, and walked out.
It left the rest of us still doing the test quite jealous...
It's nothing personal, Poet. It's just that Njan replies to almost /everything/ I post, including other people's conversations. And, of course, then I have to reply to what he's sent. You should try it; it works!
PS. I'm moving around lots soon, so my internet use will probably suffer (a lot - especially in March). I promise to let you guys know what's going on, as it gets closer to happening. At the moment the plan is that I'm going to another town for the month of February (if I'm not still stuck at work) - there should be internet there, apparantly.
When I get back, I'm going to organise moving to Wellington in mid-March, and from then I'm probably screwed for a computer, until I can buy my own.
Please don't miss me too much - I'll miss you enough for all of us, ok?
Alright, I give in...
Lisa the Freak // Poet by the Toga Posted Jan 14, 2002
That's not really the same though! At least we all tried.
When he is supposed to be working. He's such a slacker.
Njan. Slllllacckkkerrrrrrrr.....
Yeah, I might try that you know. Once I've finished replying to all my posts
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww We will miss you anyway
You better try your hardest to get back asap, ok?
Alright, I give in...
Jerms Posted Jan 14, 2002
Ok, I promise.
First, I gotta get enough money for a computer, though...
...hmmm...
Wanna help me rob a bank?
