I was really taken by surprise at the funeral yesterday. As the vicar was giving his talk he was saying things like, "Despite the moral and ethical considerations..." It slowly dawned on me that my friend's wife had committed suicide.
Talking to another friend afterwards I found that she had gone to Switzerland to that clinic.
I felt so sorry for her teenage sons and my mate her ex husband, who had supported her through illness etc. I was feeling sorry for them, of course, anyway, but to find out that it had been their mother's choice will, I think be very difficult for them to comprehend.

Oh dear.
Didn't we have a conversation about a similar case only a few weeks ago?
Just what is it that's driving people into suicide, I wonder? Especially with children involved?

Hi Bel. I wasn't around yesterday so I missed my article on the Front Page, but thanks for telling me about it.
I know my friend's wife was in a lot of physical and mental pain and I should not judge anyone. I still think it is really sad though.

Hi Vestie. It seems to be a favourite entry not only of me, but of the eds, too, so I'm sure it will be on the FP again soon.
And yes, it is very, very sad for all involved. Let's hope that at least she has found her peace now.
