It is incredibly quiet in here. Nobody seems to want to talk to me.

This is probably not all bad, all things considered, but I have noticed that quite a few of the "regulars" are mysteriously absent. Those who are around tend to disappear before I can get a word in. Not all of this can be explained by time zones and seasons, and I am distressed by it. The weather has fined up (of course! Now that we're back at work, why would it not!) and I'm in the mood to talk: otherwise exhausted, but in the mood to talk.

The hot-dogging mountain-biking hero is quietly minding his business today. Too many close calls with crazy people who drive cars (why do so many crazy people seem to drive cars...? Even in Canberra, where cyclists are far more accepted than is the case in other towns...?) have convinced me that it's safer - although far less energy efficient and valuable in terms of exercise - to be less of a hero and more of a commuter.

My spirit is being dragged down, and the task is only just about to begin...smiley - sadface

Thank god(dess)!

Don't worry, that was yesterday! By the way, what is the destruction that you regularly do with shovels...?

I'll have to go and write another journal entry now, I think...

oh, I don't destroy with shovels ... I just rule the shovels that can be used to destroy! That doesn't mean tha they always destroy, just that at some point they do.

Typos are a fact of life in this environment - it's genuine spelling mistakes that piss me off!

What's happening at your end, anyway? The end of the working day is fast approaching here, and I'm making the most of the unaccustomed time on h2g2. The light hasn't even faded yet, which I think is brilliant! Spring is a good time, once again, but I forgot to put that in my journal weather report - ah well! There's always a forum...

I'm writting an essay on Formal Application by Donald W. Baker ... probably one of the most depressin poems ever written, and I am surfing h2g2 on the side to keep myself from being completely engulfed in it's depression.

Cool! Procrastination rules!

Who is Donald W. Baker? Why is Formal Application important? Why is it depressing?

a man who wrote depressing poetry. Because Mrs. Thompson declared we must write an essay on it for AP English Literature. Well ... you kinda have to read it to understand!

I seem to recall most of my school English essays felt like that, too.

OFTOS, you're obviously of a very lyrical frame of mind: why so?

We can't see the sun in the afternoon sky from where we sit at work, here.

Cool! I think that's definitely a first! Maybe I'm doing something right!

Make sure you get involved in fora with a few of these people, though, 'cause they're (almost without exception - and I only say "almost" so there's always room for doubt) worth knowing.

Keep on bouncing...smiley - smiley!
