I have made plenty of bread in the past, but havent done so for a few years. I remember a bread strike back in the 1970s and i was making it everyday, loaves and delicious small rolls. Of course I made a few mistakes, one loaf had too much salt in it and could only be eaten with jam. Hot bread out of the oven is delicious just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I will have to make some soon.

Why did you stop making it? I haven't bought any shop bread for years: can't face the stuff. When I have sandwiches provided at meetings/conferences I can't believe that people think that's bread

I got out of the habit and my last oven was not very good, have to try making bread with my new cooker. I cant stand white bread bought in supermarkets, I prefer wholemeal, but I like home made white bread. My mother used to make lots of soda bread, not to my taste.
