I was about to scream when you posted again after I notified you. I'm sure you just missed the message, no harm done. The conversation is still going in the follow-up forum. The one you were in was so long it needed to be closed. Once the next wave of software upgrades arrives, forum size will no longer require regulation, but until then, we must do what we can for those with slow connections.

Is there some way to mark a forum as being closed? I reached that forum the long way around (not from the article itself), and so I didn't see the second forum that was supposed to continue the discussion, and if that happens, there's no way to find out that you're not supposed to post there.

I think that I must have been writing the second post while you were writing your warning... I only saw your notice after I posted again.

The only way to tell that a forum is closed is to look at the last postings. It wasn't clear from the very last one that the forum was closed, so I can understand the confusion. I can see that it might be useful to mark a conversation closed through some H2G2 gadget, but as I said, with the new programming going live soon (beta testing is going on right now, and I'm a part of it, and I am very pleased with it to this point) it will cease to be an issue, since people will be able to skip ahead in long forums to the place where they left off or to the end if they wish.

Anyway, it is a perfectly understandable error, and I think nothing more of it, so neither should you.

Incidentally, I think your presence is required in the second forum... someone has posted a response to the stuff you said in the closed one.
