I believe in French youth culture there is also a custom of reversing just the syllables of a word, i.e.
'The Er'shikehitch Guide to the Ylaxga.'
Apple becomes Pull-ah, address becomes dress-ah and so on.

Also, it must be said that some backward dialogue was featured in the Red Dwarf episode 'Backwards'. If you bothered to record it and play it backwards (er, forwards) it said something along the lines of "I bet some idiot records this and plays it backwards to hear what it says".
