This is more of a personal reminder, really. Since 'f2c' and 'fort77' are no longer part of the standard Redhat install (this, I think, applies to versions 6.1 and later), you need to grab those packages from the 'Powertools' directory from any FTP mirror if you wish to use them.
It transpires that using the 'f2c' and 'fort77' compilation method produces faster code than compiling directly with g77 - CHARMM (molecular mechanics software) runs noticeably quicker.
