Nice to see some reasoned and coherent argument on the net for a change.

Go Away and DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Hat
Dan Posted Jul 15, 1999
Oh dear. Sarcasm is to be forbidden? Fair enough. But if you can't keep a civil tongue in your head, I doubt you'll make friends here - we're not here to slag each other off. I happen to agree with you on the Mac issue but do us a favour - keep the personal abuse bottle corked.
*shrug* Just my 2p worth.

In what way do Mac's good for buisness use?!?
It's worthless in all manneres - buisness, plueasure (hihi), and not as anything else - not for math, not even as a trash can (I tried).

I take it your a PC user, as your spelling and grammar are atrocious.

Your eloquence is exceeded only by your grip on reality.
Of course, PC users are deeply suspicious of Mac users. If all you know is Windoze, the concept of someone actually *liking* their computer is bound to be a bit alien.

And their inferior performance clearly explains why on average PCs take 35% longer to process a block of SETI data (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stats/platforms.html). It would also account for the new G4 being only 2.5 times faster than a 600MHz PIII in graphiocs rendering.
Dear deluded Hat
ric Posted Sep 8, 1999
really I thought the G4 was 3 times faster than a pIII (source www.intel.com)
Incidently the G4 is legally a super computer and Apple is not alowed to sell them abroad without a special license from the US government.
Whether they need a special import licence to bring the component parts into the US for assembly is another matter.

G4: I like it, I want it and I'm *going* to have it!

Pointless comment, if you ask me (which you presumably did, if only by implication).
I want a gigaflop on my desk. Is that so strange? I think not.

How can you even compare a Mac to a PC? I've used both, and I can honestly say that PCs aren't fit to be used as... well, actually, I can't think of anything to use them for. They're slow! They have only one true advantage -- the amount of availible software. However, my little Mac has MUCH more ShareWare available.
Even a G3 is better than your average PC. My new iBook is more powerful then my friends 1 year old Gateway DESKTOP.
Also, Macs are nicer-looking. More contained, and you don't have everything hooked up by wires and scattered about. For example, with an Apple iMac, your CPU, monitor, speakers, microphone, and modem are all self contained. You don't have to plug 4 million little things together. And, though I must admit the new FireWire is better, USB is so much better than Serial. Though it may be an Intel invention, Macs take better advantage of it.
Just my 40 bucks worth.
