Dear Audrey,
Our disapointment with some of the rubbish and incorrect postings going on the site drove us off it.
We would contact some of those Libraries and other posters never getting an answer so gave up, I think we succeeded in correcting half a dozen false statements out of hundreds.
A group of us went onto e-mail and have fun as we point out the blatent lies although we also realise some of it is our memories are not what they were.
We have all had to edit our posted stories because we got some dates or facts wrong, that is different from being told Doodlebugs landed in 1940 when they did not start until 1944, or the man who manned a gun that took four crew, breaking out the ammunition loading firing and shooting down a German plane after running a hundred yards first. That plane must have been a helicopter hanging in the air waiting, it is the only explanation. I asked why the gun was unmanned in the first place, no answer.
So Audrey, we are still here, we still read the stories put in by individuals and point out the ones worth reading by cutting and pasting the thread number on to e-mail first. Our frustrations with what has happened to the site go over the heads of the present staff who's main aim is numbers not verification of the truth.
If you wish to remain in contact Audrey I can let you have an e-mail address as I do count you as a friend despite that hat, only kidding.
Frank.

Dear Frank,
I've missed you! I hope all is well? You're right - sometimes things move from their dates - we all do it. I wouldn't like the job of the WW2 Team. They must have almost given up trying to keep up with the stories coming in at such a rate. I try to reply and do my best but find it very time consumming. I get so little feedback because most come from the libraries and are rather impersonal (as you have found).
I would love to keep in touch. Tell me what to do.
Keep the little grey cells active!
Have a lovely Christmas!
Audrey

Dear Frank,
Thanks a lot. Will do!
Have a great time at Christmas with the family. We shall be with ours too.
What did you think of the 'Dancing Show' on BBC TV? I thought it was great - even my husband - who can't dance - enjoyed it. That bit of glamour just hit the spot - like old times?
All Joy and Peace!
Audrey

Dear Audrey,
Loved the program and recorded the last ones so I can watch it over again.
I thought Colin and Errin had it in the bag until that final dance. We used to do that in the Scout gangshows and the garrison shows in the army. I think it blew them with the phone voters, more so when Daren and Lillia came out and danced with such joy on their faces.
That, all those years ago was me Audrey I loved dancing, the girl in my arms did not have to be a model as long as she could dance. It brought back many memories.
Will expect you on e-mail sometime.
Frank.
