Peter's Map

Okay, so it's a while since I've been here, when all of a sudden it occured to me that this is one of those places where I can look for information on unusual topics (in addition of course to using regular search engines).
So, now I'm back; and I have a topic to introduce ... Peter's Map. This is an 'area accurate' view of the world, which leads to some rather astonishing discoveries, for example, even though Greenland and Africa appear to be roughly the same size on a Mercator projection map, in actual fact Africa is fourteen times the size of Greenland. Peter's Map shows relative sizes, whereas a Mercator map shows more accurate shapes. Naturally, both are subject to the distortions of trying to reproduce a sphere in two dimensions.
