Bands, eh? Who do they think they are?

OK, time for a rant...
I like The Fratellis. Who doesn't? They play cool, groovy tunes with a bit of postmodern humorous lyricism.
So far as I know, they've had one hit...Chelsea Dagger. One. That's right. ONE.
So how come they're advertising their gigs next year for the horrific price of £17.50 a ticket? That's £17.50, plus "service charge", plus "handling costs" plus "postage" (surely a "handling cost", no? ) ends up around £50 for a pair of tickets.
Guys, I like you...but not that much. Seems like you're trying to make a fast buck out of transient success.

Maybe they've got a fandabidosie light show? Not that they seem the light show types.

>> Maybe they've got a fandabidosie light show? <<
1. I doubt it. Bands mostly rely on the venue to provide light these days.
2. Take back that "fandabidosie" right now. I don't want to see it again in my journal.
3. Re 2. above: go and stand in the corner and hang your head in shame.

I went to see the goo goo dolls back in september, I think it was, maybe early october. Anyhoo, they've been around 19 years and had some pretty awesome lightshow effects and a very complex set, and my ticket cost £13.50, plus handling. Its ridiculous for these n00b bands to be charging more than the veterans.

£17.50 plus extra charges on the back of ONE hit?!??!?? I'm so glad I'm into obscure shouty stuff. Napalm Death have done 18 studio albums and rarely charge more'n a tenner.

Only £17.50! I didn't think you see anything live for that little...
(Makes my £37.50 plus service charge for Muse look a bit steep..)
Does it depend on the prestige of the venue too? The Fratellis have had a lot of publicity lately, perhaps the promoters are too blame. If the tickets were too cheap, people would think the show not worth going to ?

Dublin Castle, four bands, several hours, five quid. I feel a bit of a divot that it took RF to point out the glorious little place which is all of a ten minute walk from my flat.

I saw you mention this in Ask, so I thought I'd throw my two pence worth in...
I paid £14 (plus service) to see the Kaiser Chiefs about a week after their album came out (booked the tickets before like), which seems ridiculous especially when I saw the Manic Street Preachers a month later for £20...
It would seem that you start off in a band charging fourteen quid a go, then tack on another three quid odd once you have a top 40 single, and then no matter how many albums you make or sell you get to add another two pounds fifty on unless you get a Q Awards (£30 to see Oasis).
I'm sure there's an equation or something for it!
