h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

[YK, Dane, and TD arrive at a white house in a field. YK walks in without hesitation.]
[YK] [within] Hey, Dad, I'm home!

[Dane and presumably TD enter as well. Yar is talking with someone who could be a black-haired version of Cid Highwind. He is, in fact, Cid Halvorsen.]

[Cid] Great! Who're these guys?

*TD enters, looking at the house while passing through the doorway*

[YK]Hey, Dad, I'm home!

*Td looks at someone who reminds him very much of cid, but with black hair*

[Cid] Great! Who're these guys?

*sticks out hand*

[TD] Hello, i am tenchimaru draconis. pleased to meet you.

[Cid] Hi there!

[YK] This is a guy I met in the First Reality stuff. His weapon of choice is a Dragonblade. Oh, and this is Dane, he's been sent here from half a century in the future to help us get rid of a Great Cataclysm. Also, I'm making armor for Roll that looks like a pink version of Zero.

[Cid] So, anything unusual happen while you were gone?
[YK] Not particularly, no.

[Td] Just the usual, saving the world, having met cokes, doing strange stuff...

[Cid] Had fun?

{Td] Yeah, we did

Cid is MY character, and therefore, I post his actions. It would be wise to remember this. I will specifically say if a character is "up for grabs" (i.e. Elvis), but otherwise, you don't do them. But in this case, it's okay.


[YK] Anywho, I'm going to get some stuff ready, then I'm gonna ready some stuff get.

[Cid] So it's gonna be more boring than usual?

[YK] No, I have some galaxy-saving in mind.

[Cid] Good luck!

[Td] Woo, save the galaxy. Become heroes. Defeat the forces of darkness. And all that jazz...

[YK] And when you get home, you can have pizza for dinner!

[TD] Pizza? I'm SO there!

Sorry about my absence lately, i have been having extreme internet probs. I'm prob gonan buy some cd's, back up my stuff, then format my drives. sorry eh.

[YK] Right ... Anyway, we need to stay for the night. Like in any good RPG.

[TD] Sleep is for the weak...and rpg people.

[YK] Yeah well for all intents and purposes, this is going to be an RPG.

[TD] I know, so let's hit the hay

[They hit the hay. Fade to black. Dream sequence music, and then it ripple-fades to ... a sort of pagoda hovering in the middle of a dark cloud. The overall effect is that of the End of Time from Chrono Trigger. An unassuming old man is standing there, leaning on a staff. His name is Rubicant. A portal opens at the entrance, and Dane and TD step into the pagoda.]

[Rubicant] Hello, hello!

[Dane] Um ... what is this place??

[TD] Beats me...where are we? And what's rubicant doing here?

[Rubicant] Hello, hello. I'm supposed to teach you your Trance abilities.

[Dane] Okay. Go ahead.

[Rubicant] Everyone's Trance has three parts: Aura, Formation, and Eight Skills. Trance Aura is a glow of a specific color that surrounds you while you're in Trance, and your eyes glow the same color. Trance Formation is a temporary metamorphosis that indicates what new skills you can use. (Your clothing doesn't metamorphose.) The Eight Skills are the new abilities you have. In most cases Trance is activated by a tremendous surge of emotion.


Translation: Limit Breaks. Make a list of your Trance Skills, what level they're at (1 - 8 ) , and what each one does. Don't list them here; you only need, at the moment, to know the first one.

[TD] Sounds fun.

ok, i'll cook up a list or so, but first i gotta crap out my hw really fast.

[Dane] This is ... interesting. But why, exactly, do we /need/ it?

[Rubicant] Because Trance skills are the only thing that's able to defeat Mordred, ruler of the Vanda.

[Something between surprise and hatred crosses Dane's face.]

[Dane] I see. I'm beginning to see why ... whatever /this/ is happened.

[Rubicant] You needn't worry. Whatever happens, eventually the battle will end.

[TD] I guess we decide how it will end...

[Rubicant] All right. I'll activate it for you. Just /will/ yourself to use it, and incant the first thing that enters your head. [starts glowing]

[Battle Begins: TD and Dane vs. Trance Rubicant. His Aura is golden; his Formation is that his thin hair glows and his muscles become huge. Note that in addition to their ATB and HP bars, Dane and TD now have Trance bars, which almost immediately fill up.]

[[Trance Mode: Dane]]

[Dane enters Trance Mode. His Aura is blue and his Formation is that his hair becomes spiky.]


Gee, I wonder what YOUR Formation is going to be.

don't worry. if i use that at all. it's gonna be for a later trance. not the first one.


[[Trance Mode: Tenchimaru Draconis]]

[TD enters Trance mode. His Aura is red and his formation is his eyes becoming savage]
