How to annoy your other half
Asmodai Dark (The Eternal Builder, servant of Howard, Crom, and Beans) Started conversation May 7, 2006
Context:
After a heavy nights drinking the day before (only spoke to the police twice). Still feeling green, I staggered down stairs where Halo 2 awaited me - a game I have played through but just hadnt got round to buying yet. So I cracked my fingers and settles in for a full day of gaming.
Other half having spent a week in france and then a full day doing some exercise type thing (that would annoy the other half on its own though).
First phone call.
Me: Hey
Her: Hey you alright
Me: er.. yeh I'm good you *pauses Halo 2*
Her: Yeh what you upto...
(conversation carries on for a few minutes, but she had to go so said phone later)
Few hours later.
Her: Hey
Me: *scans screen for baddies* Hey
Her: You alright, hope your not annoyed at me ringing you
Me: *pauses halo with a frown* Huh what no I was just in the middle of something.. I was playing on my xbox thats all how'd it go today
(conversation continues for a few minutes, although noisey travlling companions again force her to call back later)
Last level of the entire game. Extreme tension.
Her: Hey
Me: *Continues playing, phone wedged against ear as grunt eats battle rifle rounds and I smile contentedly* gmrh
Her: You... alright?
Me: *Smacks sword into Brutes face with satisfaction, and charges into the midst of its friends* uh-huh
Her: So.. what you upto?
Me: *Tosses a grenade into the midst of some more brutes, realises I'm low on ammunition and the laser swords down. Decide to smack Brute around till it gives me a grenade la...*
Her: HELLO? CAN YOU HEAR ME?
Me: *Temporarily distracted, Brutes take initiative and paste the Arbiter. Mark dies tragically. Presses pause* Yeh I'm fine why wouldnt I be find how are you.
Her: Er... yeh I'm fine... I'm just a bit tired...
Me: Aww..... You should come play Halo with me its good
Her: I had a long day today and france was horrible
Me: *still thinking how best to take on brutes, wondering how many grenades I had before the checkpoint thing came up* You get to shoot things and fly around
Her: Thats great.. you sound tired, I think I'm gona go to bed
(Rest of the conversation is very short, promice to phone tomorrow)
Me: Fantastic, at least 12 hours till then, plenty of time to enjoy Hal... wait... did i... nah she understands... Its halo how could she not understand...
I'd have that sinking feeling right now, it it werent for the satisfaction of playing halo all day, along with two fry ups and a few beers - and the warm feeling I get when I realise that my entire summer will be taken up doing just that... and hopefully sorting things out with the other half.
Although I do have an odd sensation along the right side of my body (trigger finger fatigue possibly - I dont like the firing on Halo 2, or the punching - doesnt feel like you hit anything), whilst the left side of my body is bruised and swelling due to rugby tackling a rather drunk tutor who nearly got arrested for harrassing a neighbour.. I'm glad the police didnt see the other things he did... did I mention this is the same tutor whose acting in the film societies first ever film?
My head hurts

I'd deride you for owning an X-Box, but you shouldn't mock the aflicted
>>Her: I had a long day today and france was horrible
She really didn't need the second part of that sentence.

Ahhh then I shall leave you to you playstation and laugh, for the only thing it has over an xbox is quantity of games you can buy for it, but lets face it an xbox game now costs as little as four quid and thats off the shelf, where as the playstation counter parts are still fairly pricey. I wouldn't mind if the controller was at least comfortable to grip but its not.. its just not. Wheres the trigger button? Pfft you can kill stuff on a playstation. Bloody hell I've still got my N64 with goldeneye and I wouldnt trade it for a playstation 2 with every game/piece of kit. Or a playstation 1 for that matter. Not that I dislike Sony, its just its not good kit - my sister got one a few christmas' back, you know the slim lined version that happened to over heat. Now the Xbox may be the size of a PC, but in this case bigger does mean better.
Unless of course you own a game cube, in which case I appologise for my tirade, for the game cube is simply amazing. I dont buy one because it scares me - I know I'll love it, but will it turn me against my precious?
Well she did spend a week in the french countryside rock climbing, camping and all manner of similar things - if she didnt enjoy france, I aint arguing. If the E was a H I'd say theres a problem, but then again I've been to france a few times and not liked it yet so meh.
She hasn't phoned me today. Although I got a txt asking if I was still playing that game.
...
Its not as good as sport Halo - theres no level you can go on just for kicks, but it'll do for a few quid. Super monkey balls next.. or a place to live. Yes a monkey in a ball, or a roof over my head.

I have a NES, Master System, SNES, Mega Drive, PSX, N64, Saturn, PS2 and GCN. I have to agree the playstation controllers aren't that great, but then I was spoilt by the excelent N64 controller. Oh and I shall be getting a Revolution when they're released. Don't care much for the PS3, never really liked the Xbox controllers and I was told that not only is the 360 not backwards compatible, but it has even worse controlers.
Amazingly Nintendo, who for years avoided backwards compatability in their home consoles are the only one of the three who's next gen console is backwards compatible

That's weird because each time I find something saying it isn't I find out it is - take a look at Halo 2; the Xbox cant cope with Halo2 but the 360 could (hence the choppy graphics that you know Bungie wouldnt let out without a reason)
And Nintendo can't really afford to loose there customers where as the others... well if sony lost a couple out thousand, a nicely timed advertising push would set it right.
Although I must confess that the revolution has got me excited. That controller looks amazing, although the xbox controller is the only one that feels right now - the N64 has started to feel a little frail...
I think Xbox realised that if people get angry, there gona throw a controller. You can kick that stuff around all day and it'll be alright. A playstation dies far too quickly.

I rarely throw controllers. I tend to just shout abuse at the console and Sony and whoever programed GITS:SAC. I mostely play my PS1 games on my PS2 as I have more of them and they seem to have better gameplay. anyway I'm gonna go watch The Day the Earth Stood Still which just started on C4

the ps3 is apparently backwards compatable,
I think i'd try that
never really liked xbox microsoft cant make good computers so why should i trust there game consoles
at the moment I'm happy with my DS thingy,
which has quite a few games... if you want to import them
and since its region free thats ok
the Wii looks good but the controle thingy looks a little weird
but the zelda game looks cool so you never know...
might just might be tempting

But the Xbox 360 is as well. Sure possibly some of the early titles might not be, but then again if you've had your xbox that long your likely to be a hard core gamer who has enough games not to really care.
And I didn't know Microsoft made computers, thought they concentrated on the software :D lets face it its either Microsoft or Mac. Now sure Macs are sexy, but I've seen the sheer confused desperation on a Mac users face when they go wrong and it still amuses me to this day. A PC is like a high end sports car, you screw around then your asking for trouble.
DS is a nifty piece of kit, although like me and the mac user were talking about the other day Nintendo seems to be the new mac. Not many people buy into Nintendo, but those that do are there for life (and yes now that my course is over and Im in manchester for a day I shall be picking up goldeneye!).
If I'm honest I'm bored of Halo2 a bit now - I should have got super monkey ball. Having said that, the multiplayer on Halo 2 is something to behold.

I assume you mean the original Rare one, the new one's crap. Oh and I'm still gonna call it the revo... I can't go into Game or Gamestation and tell one of the assistants that yes, they can help me, I want a Wii
