I'll leave the game solving to others, as usual.

Hullo Abbi, we've come dressed as spimcoot today (although spimcoot is currently lounging in a silk kimono above a Birmingham Post Office). How are you?

I get terribly worried by the recommended water-drinking levels - surely one would swell up like a balloon with that much water inside you?
Berries:
If the snowdrifts tHAW, Surely we shall have floods?
Play your drum with a rumpti-tum!
Here comes a wicked kNIGHT! SH! A DEmand for money is on his lips!
Let PhiliP RIVET that broken jug for you.
You may drink from this fountain all YE Who come this way.
I will ROW ANd you can steer.
With one hand on your HIP, Stand at ease.
There are two thrushes - the song thrush and the MISTLE. TO Each is given a beautiful song.
I wouldn't eat any of them! Justi in case I was mistaken about which is which.
I'll leave the poem (I do know the answer!) for someome else. And can anyone get the drum one? The only word I can find in there is 'tit' and I've never heard of berries. Maybe tits like to eat them? Who knows...
David - where's the heatwave gone?

You're all far too clever. Lovely column as always, a wonderful while away of a bank holiday eve.

Back in Angoulême now, it has finally rained & the temperature is approaching bearable.
Unfortunately it's a bit too late for the estimated 13,000 people who have died in France during the heatwave; never mind, most of them were helpless old people, left behind to melt while the family takes off during August.
Well done David yet again, Arum it was, we must start organising a prize-giving ceremony; Yoda suggests it be called "The Whiskas"
No next week, even us poor plagiarising hacks deserve a break!
squeak soon,

*hangs head in shame*
Yes, I know, time is becoming a rather strange concept for me at the moment, don't worry, once spim has arrived & settled in, "normal" sevice will be resumed I promise!
So, I've not been able to do H.O.T this week I'm afraid, due to a combination of slight exhaustion & the inevitable cold; they wait in the wings you know, for just that moment when you're decidedly run down, but have a few spare moments which you fondly imagined were going to be spent enjoying the fruits of your labour.
Instead you sit around contemplating the relative merits of Lem-sip & hot toddies, whilst upping the profit margins of Kleenex.
C'est la vie & all that, at least this time next week, I shall be getting over it, no doubt spim will be suffering from it then; we can play at s & s & take turns in being patient!
te-he!
