Hi Katherine
I regularly read the Editorial pages there is no doubt that the photos have added to the site.
Is there any chance of setting up a photo gallery where pictures with a caption can be posted?
This could allow people with photos but no particular stories, in their view, to become involved. The following RAF Regiment site has a particularly good layout for example
http://www.rockape.org.uk/
Photos could still be categorised and checked out by the Editorial staff for inclusion. I just feel that this could be a positive step forward for this site.
Best Wishes
Jim

Hi Jim In principle, I commend your idea to the team but I feel that you have given a poor website as your example. You say "The following RAF Regiment site has a particularly good layout for example http://www.rockape.org.uk/" Any website that asks me to try and read grey font on a black background must expect me to be one of its non-viewers. Could I also point out that I have tried to partly implement your idea in my (or rather Peter's) link as given below: For a fully linked index of all the images I have posted on this site, click on the link below : http://db.bbc.co.uk/dna/ww2/F1986780?thread=562326 Regards Ron

Hi Ron
Thats a fine set of photo's you've got there. Must bring back a lot of memories, good and bad no doubt.
I never gave the colour scheme on the Rockape site a thought but you are of course right. What I do like about that site is the photo layout, by year and they can all be clicked on and brought up to a viewable size, something that is missing on the Editorial page here, as far as I can make out.
I also admit to a bias for that site as I am certain (not 100%) that the Irk with the Bren top left on the 1940 sheet is my Dad; certainly the location fits (that France business as Tom Canning would have it). I have also posted two photos there of my Dad's RAFR Flight, (even though they got the captions wrong) 1st and 2nd row fourth from left in both cases.
Best Wishes for your trip to Italy this year
Regards
Jim
