Research Desks

Hi Katherine
For a change I read the introduction to the Research Desk page rather than just selecting the desk and seeing if there were any questions that I could help with. I felt that the tone of the introduction was actually very negative. For example it states that if the answer to your question is in the research guide then you won't get an answer on the research desk. The "What is the desk for" section indicates that the desk is only to reunite lost family/comrades.
The wording on the page should be in the spirit of "ask away about anything to do with the war" as there are a great bunch of researchers and regular contributors out there with a tremendous wealth of knowledge and experience, as you are of course aware. If topics regularly occur, such as the what did the "D" in D-Day mean last June then the researchers can alert the WW2 Team that something could be added to help but please don't discourage the asking of questions as a reply could generate a valuable contribution later.
Other than that "keep up the good work"
Jim

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
