...To every generation a Slayer is born...
Our Slayer is one Buffy Anne Summer's, the most popular girl in her class in L.A., it is pressumed that due to a mistake by the Watcher's Council she was not made aware of her calling until late in life, and was therefore unwilling to fully accept her destiny as the Slayer, until she moved to Sunnydale, where she still tries to balance normal teenage wants and her duties as a Slayer.
So why do I like BTVS, firstly we have the characters. There's 
Buffy herself, to everyone else a normal girl, to us a girl with the powers to fight vampires and demons alike.
Then there are her friends, Willow, a shy computer geek who goes through more changes than the rest of them, dating the lead guitarist of a rock group who turns out to be a werewolf, discovering her sexuality and soul mate in the guise of Tara and having to deal with the loss of Tara by nearly destroying the world, and between all this dealing with her powers as a witch. Xander, the big brother of the group and I believe the glue that holds them all together, who is a bit of a demon magnet. Giles, the Father figure for Buffy aswell as her watcher, who has a few dark secrets.
These are the 4 main characters.
But I like it mainly for the story lines and the interaction and relationships between the characters, Buffy herself has dated two vampires (Angel and Spike), the introduction of a little sister in the shape of Dawn, Xander's spats with Cordelia (hilarious) and just so much more I could go on all day.
If I was to tell you all the reasons why I love this show we WOULD be here all day, let's just say that I believe this show to be the best piece of television I have ever seen...I would like to thank Joss for his creation and only hope that there is more to come...

You very another important BTVS character. Faith! Althought she wasn't a constant character, I think Faith is the better slayer.
I know, she was evil, & she went from sassy sex kitten to evil bitch to nice but nasty but she was so good at everything, I personally loved the Faith V Buffy fights...I only wish I could've seen Faith kick Buffy's ass a bit more! She was truly a great & needed character for the show.
I don't think anyone but Eliza Dushku could've made Faith as popular as she was.

I do agree with you and I'll get to Faith with my next instalment...this one was just a quick look at the 4 and why I like the show.
